Pure Oil Industries MD scoops the CEO OF THE YEAR 2019
Pure Oil Industries Managing Director (2nd from Right) scoops the CEO of The Year Award 2019 at the Megafest Northern Region Awards at an event held on 28th November 2019 at Cresta Lodge, Harare, Zimbabwe. Vikash Agarwal, Managing Director of Pure Oil Industries (Private) Limited through his intrinsic flair for innovation, creative problem solving and measured risk-taking he has managed to spearhead exponential growth for the business in a short span of time.
A Chartered accountant by profession, Vikash joined Pure Oil Industries in December 2015 and quickly rose to the position of Finance Director. Since his elevation at the helm of the company as Managing Director in May 2018, Vikash has gone on to provide visionary leadership which has seen among other things introduction of new product offerings, volume expansion and consistent market supply in an industry where other players has scaled back operations.
Among new products launched under his astute leadership are the Zimgold Margarine which has become an instant market favourite. The company has also become the first Zimbabwe entity to produce high quality baker’s fat locally which has had a huge positive impact on the baking industry and is also consistent with government policy to promote local value addition. Zimbrite Laundry Bar, Zimgold Sunflower Cooking Oil and Purola Canola Oil are some of the new and successful products that were successfully guided into the market under his reign.
In keeping with his ethos to empower local communities and to produce a wholly indigenous product, He steered Pure Oil Industries to strongly back local soya bean farmers in a backward integration strategy that has seen the organisation successfully implement a contract farming program where farmers have received financial and technical support as well as a guaranteed market for their produce.
Vikash has spent the past four years orchestrating a Zimbabwean corporate success story that has catapulted the “ZIMGOLD” brand into a household name and market leader in the edible oil sector despite the prevailing macroeconomic constraints.
